Journal of Catholic EducationThe Journal of Catholic Education (formerly Catholic Education: A Journal of Inquiry and Practice) is the only refereed research journal in the United States devoted to Catholic Education. First founded by Fordham University, Saint Louis University, the University of Dayton, and the University of San Francisco with a grant from the Lilly Endowment, the journal is now supported by 13 Catholic colleges and universities, including the current host, the University of Notre Dame.
The journal is published semiannually. Each issue maintains a balance of articles focused on K-12 and higher education. Thus, the Journal of Catholic Education appeals to K-12 teachers and administrators, diocesan and parish staff, and professors and administrators in higher education.
Journal of Philosophy of EducationThe Journal of Philosophy of Education (JOPE) is the Society’s peer-reviewed journal. The journal is hosted by Wiley Online Library, and is accessible here. Access is free to PESGB members.
The Journal publishes articles representing a wide variety of philosophical styles and traditions. They range from examination of fundamental philosophical issues in their connection with education to detailed critical engagement with current educational policy and practice from a philosophical point of view. Further details on how to submit articles to the Journal can be found on its webpage at Wiley Online Library.
The Journal publishes six issues per year, two are guest-edited Special Issues and one is a guest-edited Policy Special Issue. The Journal also publishes smaller Suites of papers. Suites typically comprise five or six papers on a topic or theme; larger suites may be published across consecutive issues. If you would like to submit a proposal for a Special Issue, Policy Special Issue, or Suite, please send a one-page proposal to the Executive Editor outlining the theme proposed, the editorial arrangements, the likely contributors and their probable topics. This initial proposal will be reviewed and a response given, with comments or suggestions for development. If the proposal is approved, the Executive Editor and Co-Editors may provide further input as the project develops. All papers submitted will be subject to review.
The Journal also compiles Special Virtual Issues. These bring together work already published in the Journal under the heading of a particular topic or theme.
