Linking to Library Hub resources in ARK

Tips for Academics

When books, book chapters and journal articles are available electronically via the Library Hub or UDCat, best practice to ensure copyright compliance is to link to resources rather than copying, scanning and uploading documents into ARK.

Locate the resource in the Library Hub (http://library.divinity.edu.au/) via the search bar.

  • Often there will be a permalink icon associated with the resource. This may look different depending on the source of the online resource, e.g.

  • Some online resources will also include an option to “Cite the item” which will also provide the correct permalink to use.
  • It is generally recommended that you don’t use the session URL from the browser address bar as this is not always a permanent link.
One exception is for Oxford University Press resources where the web address can be directly cut and pasted.

Every correct permalink should include divinity.idm.oclc.org, e.g.

https://divinity.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://ebookcentral.proquest.com/lib/undiv/detail.action?docID=3328819

This ensures that students can access the resource from wherever they are but access is also restricted to authorised members of University of Divinity.

  • Cut and paste the permalink into ARK.
  • In ARK check the “Open in a new window” box so that students are not navigated away from ARK when they access the item.
