This video describes Kerrie Burn’s experience facilitating the Australian Women in Religion Project and how the Australian experience might be used as a model for other regional and/or topic-focused Wikipedia projects. It was part of a larger panel presentation at the Wikimania 2021 conference titled: Documenting for Diversity: the Case of 1000 Women in Religion. The full presentation describes an initiative to publish a series of peer-reviewed edited volumes of biographies of notable women, to provide sufficient secondary sources to meet Wikipedia’s notability requirements for article creation. Both the Australian Women in Religion Project, and the international project of which it is a part, are helping to address gender bias on platforms like Wikipedia by bringing to light the often unrecognised work of women who have made significant contributions to the world's religious and spiritual traditions.
